Here's a little something I wrote when I was working through who this work is for, it's messy...but that's okay.

Unsettled

This is for those of us who are descendants of settlers who feel...un-settled about things.

we hear the whispers of a deep connection with nature but are unsure of how to regain that ability that we assume our ancestors most likely, probably had (before they were colonized - likely multiple times).

This is for those of us who chose not to culturally appropriate but are bereft of that connection and looking to understand and deepen it.

To be clear this work isn't going to give the ceremony, stories and daily actions that your people went through - that is specific to your area and family - but it will give you the piece that I see so often is missing from those great restoration works of re-connecting with our various ance-"stories" - the piece of how to deeply listen to land again. Something that was taken buried in all the acts of settling, colonization, and religious persecution, something we've (and our ancestors) were rewarded to forget (read: needed to do for survival).

It's time to dig into being unsettled and nurture those un-settling feelings into an unsettling paradigm - we may never be indigenous to where we are now but that doesn't mean we can't be connected. Let's talk about how this un-settling-ness can be a positive thing...
